I have started using Avast free antivirus (then Avast Home edition) in 2004/2005, when I got my first PC. There were many antiviruses present in market, but when I got Avast installed in my PC it was different. Less resource usage compared to other antiviruses, this was the main noticeable feature for me. The PC was running with 256 MB memory with a 3GHz processor, so less resource usage was an attracting feature. Also it was good in handling viruses, except cleaning feature (quarantines or delete the file instead of cleaning an infected file). But once I started using Avast, I never encountered any virus attacks or reinstall due to virus issues unless I skip updates or mess with PC. During that period itself I started recommending Avast for all my friends, relatives and whoever request me to support with their PC/Laptop. I am still a big admirer of Avast Antivirus (Free or Paid).
That’s enough with the history. Coming to the actual point, how I received a 1 year paid license. Last year I have created an account with Avast . There was an option to recommend Avast using custom links, so I have started sharing links through Twitter, Facebook etc.
The response was very less, there were few likes. Since I was satisfied with Avast Free version, I didn’t mind about the number of recommendations. Some of my friends have encountered with issues as well as bought new Laptops, so they have asked for a good antivirus. So I have shared recommendation link to them, and got some 2-3 Counts in Avast account. This year I could find there was sudden increase in the numbers, it was keep on increasing until last week it reached 7 (which is required for 1 year free license). I have received mail from Avast with a license file attached, also I was able to download the same license from Avast Account. I have been a supporter of Avast antivirus for nearly 10 years, and now I have my licensed version of Avast Internet security.
